Operatives of the Sokoto State Police Command have arrested several suspects in connection with the protest in Sabon Birni, following the death of the abducted District Head, Isa Muhammad Bawa.
The Command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Isah Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued in Sokoto.
According to the statement, miscreants set fire to private and public properties, including 25 housing units built by the state government for officials serving in the area.
ASP Mohammed warned that the police would not tolerate disruptions to public peace under the guise of protests, stating that those involved would face legal consequences.
While cautioning residents against taking the law into one’s own hands, The Command said a detachment of mobile police personnel has been deployed to maintain order.
