The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of Bristol Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM, by the National Cybercrime Center for allegedly undermining government operations.
PIDOM, an anonymous whistleblower active on platforms like X.com as 99% Oppressed, was apprehended in his hotel room in Rivers State on August 5, 2024.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, Tamunobiefiri faces several allegations, including unlawful possession, leaking classified documents, and other cyber-related offences.
Adejobi assured the public of a thorough investigation, promising that the police would leave no stone unturned in enforcing the law.
Tamunobiefiri’s arrest followed widespread social media outcry after journalist David Hundeyin reported his disappearance, prompting campaigns with hashtags like #FreePidom and #WhereIsPidom.
