About 20 medical students that were kidnapped in Benue State have just been rescued.
This was disclosed by security sources who say the operation was coordinated by the office of the National Security Adviser.
Security agencies – the police, DSS and military personnel and equipment were involved in the operation, with the support of the Benue state government.
The students were abducted last Thursday along the Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu federal highway while travelling to Enugu State for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students’ annual convention.
A few days after their abduction, their captors demanded a ransom of ₦50 million to secure the release of their hostages.
But the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun who condemned the attack deployed a team to Benue on Monday to rescue the abducted students.
