President William Ruto of Kenya is planning to reintroduce tax measures contained in legislation that was withdrawn in June after deadly protests.
This was disclosed by Finance Minister John Mbadi who premised it on the urgent need to raise $1.2 billion due to growing demands for expenditures by the government.
He said the reviewed tax proposal to be brought back includes an eco-levy on most goods while sensitive products like sanitary pads would be exempted from the levy.
