Former Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood scored twice in a successful debut at Ligue 1 side Marseille as he scored twice in an emphatic 5-1 win over Brest.
Greenwood wasted no time on his debut as he raced down the right before drilling low into the bottom corner after three minutes.
Shortly after the half-hour mark, the attacker stepped up from the spot to hand Marseille a 3-0 lead after Amine Harit was fouled in the penalty area.
Luis Henrique and Elye Wahi added in the second-half to produce a five-star performance, sending Marseille top of the league after one match.
The former outcast at Old Trafford was the first signing made under ex-Brighton manager, Roberto De Zerbi – who also joined the club this summer after leaving Brighton following their last game of the 2023-24 season – and he repaid the faith to make it 1-0.
Greenwood spent last season on loan in Spain at LaLiga side Getafe and had not played for Manchester United since being arrested in January 2022.
He was then charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Greenwood vehemently denied any wrongdoing and the charges and case were dropped in February 2023 when key witnesses withdrew.
The 22-year-old ended his association with the Red Devils this summer after completing a £26.6million move to France.
