The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has initiated talks with the Senate to reinstate Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip.
This comes a month after Ndume, representing Borno South, was removed for repeatedly criticising President Bola Tinubu and the APC.
Ndume was replaced by Senator Tahir Monguno after the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and National Secretary, Senator Basiru Ajibola, issued a directive.
However, after a recent closed-door meeting, Ndume apologised to the party, which was accepted by the APC leadership.
The APC is now consulting with the Senate to review Ndume’s removal, with the party emphasising that it’s a family matter.
Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, confirmed the consultations, noting that while the final decision rests with the Senate, the APC is open to welcoming back members who admit their mistakes.
