Gunmen, on Monday evening, killed four policemen and a Point of Sale (PoS) operator along Onitsha Road in Owerri, Imo State.
The attack occurred as the policemen, attached to Ogbaku Police Division, were reportedly chasing the gunmen.
The assailants opened fire near the AA Rano and Gbobal fuel stations, leading to a deadly shootout.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the four officers and the PoS operator died at the scene.
The tragic incident has been confirmed by Imo Police spokesman Henry Okoye who said “investigation is ongoing to identify the miscreants responsible for this senseless attack.”
