The Lagos State Government has denied reports of reintroducing monthly environmental sanitation or movement restrictions starting from this month.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement by the ministry on X, clarified that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s recent announcement at a sanitation sensitisation exercise referred to a weekly community-based awareness program, not a mandatory monthly exercise.
The Commissioner emphasised that no movement restrictions will be imposed on the last Saturday of July, as falsely claimed in the viral posts.
Wahab encouraged Lagos residents to adopt a culture of regular environmental cleanliness, rather than waiting for government-mandated sanitation exercises.
