The Department of State Services (DSS) has notified the public over planned protests by certain individuals and groups in parts of the country on June 12, which is Democracy Day.
Director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications, DSS National Headquarters, Abuja, Dr Peter Afunanya, made this known in a statement late on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the protests are designed with sinister objectives to coincide with the Democracy Day Celebration.
He said while citizens may have the rights of assembly and expression, such freedoms should not be used to undermine public safety and national security.
He said attempts by some non-state actors to incite mass disaffection through demonstrations that may turn violent will not be tolerated.
