Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has finally visited Okuama, Delta State weeks after the community was deserted following the killing of 17 soldiers there.
The Commanding Officer of 181 Army Amphibious Battalion, two majors, one captain, and 13 soldiers were ambushed and killed in Okuama last month, an attack which drew widespread outrage and condemnation.
But The governor, accompanied by some government officials, assured residents of the area who had fled after the incident that they would be allowed to return safely.
It was the first time Oborevwori was visiting the troubled community after he had earlier been allegedly denied access to the community by the military last month.
