The Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu kwankwaso has declined invitation to the “Interactive session with presidential candidates” organised by Arewa Joint Committee scheduled for Monday 17th October, 2022.

In a statement obtained by VeoNewsng, Spokesman of the Campaign, Abdulmumin Jibrin said the timing of the event coincided with a number of activities outlined by the campaign team.

Kwankwanso’s campaign also told the Committee that it won’t be able to submit its blueprint as the “technical team is still making the final touches” to the document.

Jibrin added, “However, immediately the Blueprint is presented to the Public by our candidate, we shall make copies available to your groups.”

Kwankwaso Accuses Arewa Committee of Compromise

The Presidential flag bearer of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso also accused some members of the Arewa Joint Committee of receiving funds to endorse of the Presidential Candidates.

The statement signed by Jibrin reads partly, “we have credible information in our possession that shows that some people have been compromised and these people have concluded plans to turn the event into an endorsement platform for a particular candidate.”

“We believe that it is very wrong for any group to clandestinely plan to endorse any candidate in the name of the North, especially when we have more than one candidate from our region. And our candidate enjoys more acceptability amongst the Northern masses and across the country than any other candidate.”

Kwankwaso further insisted that he remains a popular candidate in the North, having served in varying capacities as Governor, lawmaker and Minister. The NNPP campaign subsequently issued a stern warning to the committee “not to do anything that will ridicule the legacies of Sir Ahmadu Bello and other famous Northern Leaders like of Sir Tafawa Balewa, Malam Aminu Kano, Sir Kashim Ibrahim, and JS Tarka etc. by attempting to endorse an unpopular candidate at the expense of a more competent, more experienced and more credible one.”
