President Bola Tinubu has handed the All Progressives Congress, APC, Flag to the Edo Governorship Candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo and deputy Governorship Candidate of the APC, Honourable Dennis Idahosa.
This followed a meeting of the leadership of the Edo State chapter of the APC at the Presidential Villa, where Okpebholo was formally introduced following a troubled primary election that triggered controversies over the winner.
Recall the primary election that eventually produced Okpebholo as candidate had initially ran into a controversy as Idahosa was first declared by the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led committee. The first round of primary was then declared inconclusive by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, owing to a number of irregularities.
Among those at the meeting, which was held in the President’s office were the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje; Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole; Senator Matthew Urhoghide, former representative of Edo South in the Senate; among others.
