The organized labour has issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government, following the non-implementation of the 16-point agreement reached on October 2, 2023.
The labour unions in a statement claimed that despite efforts to ensure industrial peace, the government seems unconcerned by the mass suffering and hardship across the country.
According to the union, the October 2 agreement was to address the massive suffering and the general harsh socio-economic consequences of the ill-conceived and ill-executed IMF/World Bank-induced hike in the price of PMS and the devaluation of the naira.
The unions however stated that in order to force the federal government into taking valuable action, to ensure the protection and defence of the rights and dignity of Nigerian workers and citizens, it has issued a 14-day ultimatum which may lead to further labour action if the government fails to do the needful.
