The speaker of the house of representatives, Tajudeen Abbas says the time has come to demand transparency and urgency from the security chiefs and their outfits in the fight against insecurity.
Abbas said this during a world press, stating that the days of business as usual in handling national security threat must end has the nation can no longer waste resources in the fight against insecurity without clear cut success.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker reassured Nigerians that the federal government is actively sorting ways to meet their immediate needs, explaining that the Tinubu administration in collaboration with major stakeholders will take stringent steps in improving the economy, food provision and food security.
According to him, the federal government has laid a foundation of cordial relations with other arms and tiers of government, which he described as crucial and fundamental to ensure that actions are initiated and executed on all fronts for the good of the ordinary Nigerian
Abbas also advocated constructive citizen-government consultation, to cultivate the culture of meaningful conversation, constructive criticism and sincerity to set agendas and provide insight on matters of urgent importance to the nation.
He however appealed to persons seeking to undermine government officials through unverified social media campaigns to have a rethink, calling on security agencies to swing into action, fish out the culprits and punish them in-line with the law.
He closed his speech by calling on Nigerians to exercise patience, contribute genuinely to national development by being law abiding and patrotic.
