The Senate Committee on Gas has called on the Minister of Finance, Olawale Edun, to provide within seven days comprehensive details of the award and disbursement of over N100 billion to companies engaged for the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) projects.
In a letter dated January 9th and circulated to journalists today, the Committee Chairman, Jarigbe Jarigbe accused the expenditure of breaching the Public Procurement Act of 2017.
He requested the minister forward records of the N100 billion award and disbursement as well as a list of contracted companies handling the CNG infrastructure development project.
The Senate committee’s demand follows concerns over transparency in the multi-billion-naira CNG initiative meant to provide alternative clean energy to Nigerians amidst soaring fuel prices.
