Governor Seyi Makinde says rescue efforts would continue pending confirmation that no other person is under the rubble while other persons within 250 meters of the site of the blast have been urged to move to the temporary shelter provided by the government.
Addressing newsmen this afternoon, Makinde appealed to residents of the state to remain calm as the state had struck deals with hotels and care centres to provide temporary accommodation and feeding till the completion of the assessment of the impact of the explosion.
The Governor also issued warnings to looters and purveyors of fake reports, saying he would not tolerate that bid to unsettle the state.
Earlier, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos extended heartfelt sympathies to the immediate families of the victims and Ibadan residents over the explosion allegedly caused by illegal miners, who stored explosive devices in one of the houses in the Bodija area of Oyo State capital.
Governor Sanwo-Olu in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, commended Governor Makinde for the prompt deployment of first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State.
