President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate seeking the confirmation for appointment of 11 justices of the Supreme Court.
President Tinubu in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and read at plenary said the request was in line with the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Akpabio charged the senate committee on judicial and legal matters led by Mohammed Monguno to verify the credentials of the justices presented for confirmation before the next sitting tomorrow.
The justices nominated for confirmation include Justices Jummai Sankey, Stephen Adah, Mohammed Idris, Haruna Tsammani Jamilu Tukur, Abubakar Umar and Chidiebere Uwa.
Other nominated Judges are, Justices Chioma Nwosu-Iheme, Obande Ogbuinya, Moore Adumein and Habeeb Abiru.
When confirmed, it would bring the number of apex Court Justices to 21.
