The Labour Party (LP) in Rivers and its candidate, Beatrice Itubo, have withdrawn their petition against the election of Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Itubo in a chat with newsmen her Ogbakiri country home of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State also pledged to support Governor Fubara’s government for the progress of Rivers State.
Itubo had previously vowed to pursue the election petition to the highest length following initial losses at the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Appeal Court, Abuja.
This U-turn according to the former Governorship Candidate followed deliberations with Governor Fubara.
The partnership between the the duo appears to strengthen the position of Governor Fubara who has been at loggerheads with his now estranged godfather, Nyesom Wike.
