German club Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed that Nigeria internationals Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella will be released if they are included in the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
The club’s managing director Simon Rolfes made the statement negating previous statement by CEO Fernando Carro who said he was considering legal action to prevent Boniface and Tella from representing the Super Eagles at the AFCON finals.
Amine Adli (Morocco), Odilon Kossounou (Ivory Coast), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso) are also on the books of Leverkusen.
Adli, Kossounou, Tapsoba, Tella and Boniface are all expected to be included in their respective countries’ squads for the 2023 AFCON finals which will hold from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
