The former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has accused his successor, Siminalayi Fubara of attempting to forcefully take control of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State by working with his perceived political enemies.
Speaking after a meeting with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors in Abuja, Wike said he would not shut his eyes and watch his successor decimate his political base in Rivers.
Wike who is current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said, “You cannot work, and people will begin to bring enemies; those who fought you when you were struggling for the person to be in office. Nobody does that,”
Despite the reported attempt by President Bola Tinubu to resolve the issue between the parties, Wike vowed not to end the conflict with Fubara.
He said, “You know I will not agree. If heaven will come down, let heaven come down so that everybody will be at rest.
“Anybody who knows me knows too well: what I’ll never take is threat. You know I will not agree. If heaven will come down, let heaven come down so that everybody will be at rest.
“Let’s do things right. He said they should bring N20 billion every month; that’s politics. But nobody said this when I was fighting. If you like, accuse me.”
Meanwhile, Fubara, earlier today admitted that all issues, if any, with his predecessor would be resolved.
