President Bola Tinubu has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar challenging his victory in the 2023 presidential election.
The President insisted that the PDP presidential candidate (Atiku) and his party failed to prove all their allegations and submissions at the Tribunal, saying that the tribunal was correct in arriving at its verdict and affirming his election.
He urged the apex court to affirm the decision of the lower court while dismissing the appeal in its entirety, as the same is lacking in merit and bona fide.
Atiku and the PDP had filed a petition challenging the outcome of the February presidential election, alleging that the election was marred with irregularities and substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
They also alleged that Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima, were not qualified to contest and did not win the election by the majority of lawful votes cast.
