The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has said exploring renewable sources like solar, hydro, and wind, will not only reduce carbon emissions but also spur economic growth and job creation.
Adelabu disclosed this at the ongoing Nigeria Energy Exhibition and Conference in Lagos, stating that there is a need for Nigeria to join other nations of the world in considering alternative energy sources to combat global warming and hazardous climate change.
According to him, his vision is to increase the storage capacity of generating companies in Nigeria to at least 20,000 megawatts in three years, and close metering gap with eight million units through out the nation.
The power minister also noted that accountability in the sector can only be possible if all households, small businesses, government institutions, and industries are properly metered.
