
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service says properties worth – N87.72B were saved by the intervention of its agency between January to June, 2023.
Director of the Agency, Margret Adeseye in her mid-year activity report however noted that the state lost properties valued at N14.62B and 47 persons but rescued as much as 177 victims alive.
Describing the agency as the first and major responder to emergency/disaster in the State, Abimbola indicated that the agency recorded 924 fire incidents which were often caused by carelessness, climate change and proliferation of domestic gas usage due to spread in use as alternative fuel.
The Fire boss therefore urge the public to desist from habits that may put unnecessary pressure on the Fire Service operations in the state while assuring that the agency has what it takes to ensure mitigation of fire outbreaks.
