Popular Nollywood Actress, Ada Ameh passed on in Warri, Delta State around 11 pm on Sunday.
The 48 year old who played Emu in Africa Magic family drama, The Johnsons was said to have suddenly collapsed and was pronounced dead on arrival at the NNPC’s hospital.
Hours before passing on, Ameh had shared a video of her eating with the family around 12:53pm on Sunday on her official Instagram page.
Roll Call of Tragedies
In the weeks leading to her death, Ameh had publicly detailed her mental health challenges after suffering multiple losses of loved ones to the cold hands of death.
Ameh, admits that she was exposed to sex at an early age and at 14, gave birth to her only daughter, Aladi Godgift.
Unfortunately, Aladi passed on in October, 2020 following an unsuccessful surgery in Abuja.
Commenting on the loss during an interview with TV Personality, Chude Jideonwo, She said, She said: “I am just trying to get myself now. She is, she was, that one that could look me in the eyes and tell me the way it is without mincing words, my cheerleader, my gossip partner, my best friend”.
It was not the only loss the actress suffered, in six years; Ameh lost six of her siblings comprising three brothers and three sisters.
Mental Health Challenges
While the death of her daughter dealt her the biggest blow that sunk her into depression, she felt completely alone when she lost her elder sister in March, 2022.
Announcing the loss of her sister, Ameh wrote on Instagram, “Auntie Judy, you broke my heart. I just wanted to be like you Agabaya. We can never forget the great woman that you were while you lived. “
Talking about her mental health challenges, the actress in June, 2022 thespian revealed that she had a mental breakdown and was being sued by a firm for not doing a task she was meant to do.
She said: “I have an issue right now and it’s taking my life, but I no go die. We would get over it. I was given a job, but I didn’t do it because I have mental health issues. Will people understand it if you have mental issues? No, they wouldn’t. They are slamming me with a bill, suing me. It’s okay.”
In a televised interview before her death, she also admitted that she had been meeting a therapist in Calabar but recently found one in Lagos and was readjusting.
Born on 15 May, 1974 in Ajegunle, Lagos, Ameh’s breakout moment was in the 1996 movie ‘Domitilla’ where she played the role of Anita.
